Splendours of Morocco

Discover the jewel of North Africa

Day1:
Welcome to Morocco where you will be met by your guide and escorted to your hotel. You will then have time to relax and get to know your new holiday friends over a delicious traditional dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2:
Today is geared towards fun as we set out on an exhilarating drive in a 4x4 across High Atlas Tizi n Tichka pass to Ouarzazate. Along the way we’ll explore the stunning kasbah of Ait Benhaddou which once guarded the caravan trade routes from Timbuktu. After lunch in a local restaurant we’ll visit the heart of Morocco’s film industry with a tour of the Atlas film studios. Finally we head to your hotel for the evening where you can relax by the pool, enjoy a drink at sunset, or stroll into town to visit the Kasbah Tauorirt.

Day 3:
This morning we’ll head out towards the Saharan village of M’Hamid - where the road literally runs out at the edge of the desert! Driving off-road through the luscious Draa Oasis we’ll stop for lunch in Zagora and prepare for an afternoon packed with cultural visits including a pottery, a Koranic library and a living museum-kasbah displaying desert traditions that have endured for several centuries. Later, if you are game, you’ll have the chance to take a Camel ride. Tonight we’ll experience a truly traditional way of life with a desert meal, local entertainment and sleeping in a shared bivouac.

Day 4:
After an exciting night under the stars we’ll travel by 4x4 to the high dunes of Erg Chegaga and traditional lunch in Sacred Oasis. Time to relax in the shade and enjoy a simpler way of life watching local desert dwellers bring their goats to the spring for water. Spend the night in a bivouac at Erg Chegaga 300meters high. If you’re feeling adventurous you might like to try a spot of sand boarding.

Day 5:
Shake off any aches from yesterday's sand boarding activities and get ready to enjoy a stunning off-road trip across a huge dry lake towards Tazenakht in time for lunch, an important town where Berbers make hand-woven carpets. As well as memories to treasure, you’ll possibly see a mirage and collect ancient fossils along the way! It’s then onwards to your hotel in Talaouine, the region where Morocco’s saffron is grown, for a few well earned drinks with your new friends.

Day 6:
Any hangovers will melt away as we journey to Marrakech across the awe-inspiring Tizi n Test Mountain pass. In the evening, you can enjoy fun evening fuelled by traditional food and drink at a restaurant in the “red city”.

Day 7:
Today we’ll spend the day in mystical Marrakech visiting souks and the Medina. An official guide will help us get our bearings in the morning then, after lunch, the afternoon is free to explore the gardens of Marrakech, haggle for bargains in the souks, or visit a local hammam for a steam bath, rub-down and massage with oils (this can be organised on request). For our final night together the group may like to visit a local Fantasia to enjoy a sumptuous meal and watch a traditional folkloric show performed on horseback. Alternatively the group might like to choose a restaurant overlooking the exotic Place Jemaa el Fna (the final meal and entertainment is not include in holiday price)

Day 8:
Sadly, its time to say goodbye to Morocco. But you’ll have time to swap numbers with your new friends before setting off for the airport.
